The Greyhound of Richmond Tudor Beasts 2oz Silver Coin

The Royal Mint proudly unveils the seventh instalment in its acclaimed Royal Tudor Beasts Collection – The Greyhound of Richmond, now available as a 2oz silver bullion coin. This coin continues the journey through Tudor royal heraldry, featuring the elegant Greyhound, a beast selected by Henry VIII from a treasury of Royal Beasts to assert his lineage and reinforce his claim to the throne.

Designed by David Lawrence, the reverse presents a striking depiction of the Greyhound of Richmond. The intricate design is enhanced by cutting-edge surface animation, providing exceptional visual detail and robust security against counterfeiting.

The obverse is graced with the official coinage portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, created by Martin Jennings.

What are the Queens Beasts?

The Queen’s Beasts are ten legendary creatures who symbolise the historic ancestry of Her Majesty The Queen. As a set of ten statues, each statue bears the shield or crest of the family they represented. They all stood guard outside Westminster Abbey in 1953 during the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. As The Queen’s Beasts Collection, their mythical stories have been reimagined for the twenty-first century in a series of ten popular coin designs by the celebrated designer Jody Clark.
